The Agency Business 2017
Room 2 | 12:30 – 14:00 | Friday
Chairs: Xenia Grigat, Beatbox Entertainment (DK) & Olivier Toth, Rockhal (LU)
What was once the most consistent sector of the music business is now facing the most widespread change. The ongoing consolidation of booking agencies is seeing established mid-sized outfits tie up to offer services across music, film, TV and more, as an increasingly international playing field emerges. Meanwhile, the US and UK dominance is contending with increased activity from new regional and territorial agencies across mainland Europe. Replacing the longstanding Booking Ring meeting, The Agency Business 2017 invites leading international agents to discuss this changing sector, and the wider implications for the rest of the business.
Brian Ahern, WME (UK)

Jules de Lattre, UTA (UK)

Speaker's Biog | John Giddings
John Giddings took the classic route into live music and along the way became one of the biggest and best known agents and promoters in the world. He is responsible for many of the most high profile tours of recent years including The Stones, Madonna, Genesis, Celine Dion, Iggy Pop and David Bowie, and he also revived the Isle of Wight Festival, known as the Woodstock of Europe. John started off in the 70s representing The Adverts and X-Ray Spex before moving onto The Boomtown Rats, The Ramones and Iggy Pop. In the early 80s he formed TBA International and worked with Paul Young, Alison Moyet, Big Country, Howard Jones, Tears for Fears and Duran Duran. In 1987, he literally went solo - forming the Solo Agency Group. His ascent from massively respected British music agent to global touring legend has been meteoric. John is married to Caroline and has four daughters. He is both enigmatic and self-effacing with a wit and humour that are legendary, but for all that he has largely avoided the spotlight, being prepared to let the music do the talking.
